The customer is an Oil and Gas Consultant in Singapore. They work on improving efficiency, sustainability and productivity of their clients in order to maximise the potential of the finite resources available and provide an energy strategy that powers the future.

The customer has tons of scientific and numerical data regarding the Oil Wells that they explore. They would want to compare past data to come up with estimations and predictions of potential capacity for proposed oil wells.

The Spagylo Team based on its experience with multiple Business Intelligence tools suggested Power BI for this project especially as the client team was using a lot of Excel and other Microsoft products already. The team worked with the users to understand the scope of data being used, and came up with data models that will power the reports. Data was collected, cleaned and organized to suit the data models. Interactive Dashboards were configured with the ability to drill down, drill up and drill through. Filters can be applied and the user can play with the dashboard components to arrive at in depth insights. As the data was a lot mathematical and the client was using R language, R specific data models were developed to use the intelligence gained from R functions.

The accuracy rate of the prediction of potential capacity of oil wells has increased by 20%. Interactive dashboards, drill downs, slice and dice are some of the features that the client found very useful.
